Oklahoma Football: How Bob Stoops
NORMAN — Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops still has two positions to fill on his coaching staff, but doesn’t appear to be in a big hurry to make those hires.
Last weekend, when Stoops introduced new offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley, he said up front that he wouldn’t discuss the other openings.
“I continue to look to fill the other two jobs,” Stoops said. “We haven’t yet. I’m working hard on it. I have some strong ideas where I’m going with that. I’m not ready to expand on that any further.”
With national signing day less than two weeks away, the very real possibility exists that for the first time in five years — and only the third time in his tenure at Oklahoma — Stoops won’t have a full, nine-man coaching staff when he announces his new recruiting class.
This could also become the first time in the Stoops era that OU is more than one coach short on signing day.
Riley was hired as Heupel’s replacement, but what will Stoops do with the other two jobs?
That remains a mystery for now, but Stoops could choose to change the makeup of his staff.
